 NEWS HEADLINES THIS WEEK 

Indigo Sues Mahindra:

  • Indigo, India’s leading and largest airline has sued Mahindra after it launched its new car, the BE 6E, over a trademark infringement as 6E is Indigo’s airline designator code and an imperative part of its branding and identity 
  • Mahindra, for now has changed the name to the BE 6, but will challenge indigo in court. The case is being heard in the Delhi High Court.

Parliament Passes Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024:

  • This act replaces the Aircraft Act, 1934, to improve the ease of business in the rapidly growing aviation sector.


CISF Quality Control Unit:

  • The CISF has set up a quality control unit to improve efficiency of its aviation security wing, which provides counter-terrorism measures to airport in India.


The International Civil Aviation Day was celebrated yesterday, the 7th of December.

Akasa Air GOX-PNQ: TRIP REPORT

 The Akasa Air Flight Report Flight Details: Flight:  QP1142 Route:  GOX-PNQ Date:  27 December 2024 Seat:  4F (priority check-in, baggage, popcorn & cashews) Boarding:  2:35 Departs:  3:35 PM Arrives:  4:45 PM Registration:  VT-YAL Aircraft:  B737-Max 8 Fare:  INR 14,442 (3 passengers) Gate:  12 Note how this aircraft does not include their premium A++ cabin, which comes in a 2-2 configuration instead of the usual 3-3. The menu on the flight included salads, croissants, appetizers, burgers, wraps, sandwiches, snacks, beverages, and ready-to-eat items. We boarded at 3:00 PM and it finishes at 3:20. Plane Theory: Akasa Air has the Best Pilots (In Indian Aviation)? As I was having a conversation with an Akasa Air Captain and FO, both of whom were former Jet Airways pilots. Soon, I was hit with the revelation that most senior Akasa Air pilots would be from Jet Airways. Jet Airways was one of India's premier FSCs, operating a large fleet of 192 aircraft. Out of these, 139 were Boeing 737s and 10 were 777s. The airline filed for bankruptcy and ceased operations on the 17th of April, 2019. IMAGE: Jet Airways 787s collecting dust near IGI Terminal-2 Since Jet Airways was one of India's greatest airlines, it had superior pilots compared to others. These pilots, many of whom saw expertise operating Boeing Aircraft, had very few places to go.
