 The Akasa Air Flight Report

Flight Details:

Flight: QP1142

Route: GOX-PNQ

Date: 27 December 2024

Seat: 4F (priority check-in, baggage, popcorn & cashews)

Boarding: 2:35

Departs: 3:35 PM

Arrives: 4:45 PM

Registration: VT-YAL

Aircraft: B737-Max 8

Fare: INR 14,442 (3 passengers)

Gate: 12

Note how this aircraft does not include their premium A++ cabin, which comes in a 2-2 configuration instead of the usual 3-3.

The menu on the flight included salads, croissants, appetizers, burgers, wraps, sandwiches, snacks, beverages, and ready-to-eat items.

We boarded at 3:00 PM and it finishes at 3:20. However, pushback occurred at 3:35. We departed at 3:51, 16 minutes late.

AMENITIES:

  • Reclinable seat.
  • Cafe Akasa Menu and Safety Card in the front seat pocket.
  • Individual air vents and reading lights.
  • One flight attendant call button for 3 seats.
  • USB-A charging port.

POSITIVES:

  • Christmas themed lights and boarding music.
  • Snack service was extremely prompt; pre-booked beverages and snacks were served before departure. You could purchase food and drink once we reached cruising altitude.
  • Clean lavatory.
NEGATIVES:

  • The window was a bit dirty, but we just had to wipe it with a tissue.
  • Weird, strong smell on the aircraft once we boarded, which dissipated about 10 minutes later.
  • Due to the short flying time, everything, such as snack service, collection of trash, and even safety announcements were rushed. The crew ideally shouldn't need to serve food and drink on such a short flight, with 20–30-minute airtime.
CHRONOLOGY:

  • 4700 BC gourmet popcorn served for INR 250, with a complimentary drink.

  • Yoga Bar Roasted & Salted Cashews served for INR 250, with a complimentary drink.
  • Notice the incredible difference between Airbus and Boeing noses, as we see this Vistara (now Air India) A320 pushing back, giving us a perfect comparison with the Akasa 737-Max 8.

  • See the TUI 787-8 DREAMLINER.

  • While we waited, I took the seat measurements:
    • Seat Width- 47cm
    • Seat Length- 40cm
    • Arm Rest Width- 7cm
    • Arm Rest Length- 35cm
    • Leg Room- 34cm (measured till the starting point of the next seat; note that there is space beyond that)
    • *NOTE: THE ABOVE MEASUREMENTS WERE TAKEN USING THE APPLE MEASURE APP AND MAY BE INACCURATE.
  • See the beautiful view of North Goa as we takeoff at 3:51 PM:

  • We end up landing at 4:30 PM, 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled arrival. We deplaned at 4:38, but through stairs instead of an Aerobridge. So, it was harder for wheelchair passengers to get off.
  •  Luggage started arriving at 4:44, but our priority bag arrived at 4:54, while 30< non-priority bags had already arrived.

In conclusion, Akasa Air is great for an LCC. The crew was prompt and helpful. The flight itself was extremely comfortable. Departure was a quarter of an hour, late, but we did arrive 15 minutes prior. Overall, the aircraft was quite clean, though not spotless.
